I even programmed adaptions back in the day (I made a CZ-101 adaption.before. the Universal module actually supported the non-standard sysex data the CZ uses, as well as adaptions for other stuff.) And in some ways, for some devices, storing and organising patches in SD was still better and faster than 'modern' systems, plugins, and DAW patch handling. BTW SD never Linked with Logic on OSX, because the little system hack they used to link the two (called 'Autolink') wasn't available in OSX, though you could still copy/paste names in Logic. It only worked in OS9 and Windows. There is still MIDIQuest, but I've found that really buggy and weird to use as well.
